Hoping & Dreaming -vs- Goal Setting

Then the LORD answered me and said:  " Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.  For the vision is yet for an appointed time ; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.  Though it tarries, wait for it ; Because i t will surely come , It will not tarry.  Habakkuk 2: 2-3 (NKJV) . (Italics are mine for emphasis.) One of my assignments from the Lord this year is "You need to finish what you start!"  Let me put that in context.  I have several books that I started reading, then I would see, hear about, or buy another one that I wanted to read that piqued my interest...without finishing the previous one. Am I the only one guilty of doing this?  The first one that He led to complete was * The Circle Maker (Praying Circles Around Your Biggest Dreams and Greatest Fears) by Mark Batterson.  The focus of the book is on drawing prayer circles (you'll have to read to understand that part), however, the second area of focus that st

Same First Parents & Same God!

Some continue to question why Black History Month is still "a thing".  The answer is that until we as a country and certain "leaders" stop trying to sugarcoat or remove the actual truth of the history of this country, it will continue to be a necessity. If one were to even look at the history of indigenous people in this country, we would have to admit that America has unclean hands.  This nation was built on the backs of marginalized people.  There is not one area of everyday life that has not been by positively impacted by the many contributions and sacrifices of black & brown people, as well as, other ethnicities.  That's one reason "melting pot" is used to describe the makeup of our population. I believe that it would make the Lord's heart glad if the body of Christ would come together being intentional in having an active role in showing the love of Christ to pull down the strongholds of division and racism.  By this everyone will know m

A Busy Day Indeed!

Image
February 14th this year is quite busy.  It's Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, AND Valentine's Day.  Not every denomination observes the first two, so I'll just touch on all three.  The following information is from Britannica.com. ASH WEDNESDAY:                   Photo by  Thays Orrico  on Unsplash Ash Wednesday is the beginning of the season of Lent.  It takes place 6 1/2 weeks before Easter.  The ashes are burned palm leaves from the previous years' Palm Sunday Service and are used to mark the sign of the Cross on the congregants foreheads or sprinkled on their heads.   LENT:              Photo by Chris Liverani on Unsplash Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent.  It consists of 40 days of fasting, abstinence, and prayer.  It is                                a reminder/ or a commeration of the 40 days when Christ's was alone in the * wilderness prior to the beginning of His public ministry.  It is suggested that during the Lent season the time that wo

The PLUMB LINE Test

Image
This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb, with a plumb line in his hand.  And the Lord asked me, “What do you see, Amos?” “A plumb line,” I replied. Then the Lord said, “Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.”   ( Amos 7:7-8 ). According to Bible Study Tools, "a plumb line is a tool that is used by * masons and other contractors to build walls that are straight up and down--- at a perfect right angle to the earth, so as to align with the gravitational pull."  It actually has a weight on one end of a string and is used to make sure that a wall is straight while a building is under construction.  A wall that is NOT straight is a disaster waiting to happen!  ** A wall that is crooked will not be able to support the roof and the rest of the structure.  For example, if the vertical sides of this bench was not "plumb" or straight, then they could not support the "top&
