Hey! IT'S IMPORTANT!

 

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.         Hebrew 6:6 (KJV)

There is a commercial that would always get my attention whenever it was aired on television.   The character is talking about drug abuse and says the following with a sense of urgency.  STOP!  PAY ATTENTION!  DON'T LOOK AWAY!  IT'S IMPORTANT!

 It always made me think of how there are times in our lives when we may be considering making an unwise choice regarding our  words, attitudes, actions, or reactions to something precipitated by something or someone who has hurt or disrespected us or a loved one. 

How we respond is important! The fleshly reaction is to strike back in  retaliation.  In that moment, "take a beat" and ask yourself if that thought or action would honor or dishonor Christ,  crucifying Him all over again.  The world and the enemy are always looking to find ways to be able to accuse the saints. (Revelation 12:10...for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before God day and night...).

If we are honest with ourselves, we have all been in situations when the war between the flesh (natural, innate reactions) and the spirit clash.  In those moments, if we were to listen intently, we would hear the Holy Spirit whisper or tug at our spirits to handle the situation in a God honoring way.  We have the choice to be reactionary or to respond appropriately.   The Holy Spirit may not shout the way the person does in the commercial, but when He speaks or tugs at our spirits, there is still that need or sense of urgency to make the right choice. 

When we choose to ignore His prompting and fail the "test" then we must confess, repent, and be intentional in listening and obeying Him.  Thank the Lord for repentance being built into the plan of salvation, and that *He is the God of a second chance giving us the opportunity for a new beginning.

PASSION WEEK/HOLY WEEK

No one can take my life from me.  I sacrifice it voluntarily.  For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again.  For this is what my Father has commanded.  John 10:17-18 (NLT)    This season is one of the most consequential & unforgettable periods of time in Christiandom.  A painful time which ends triumphantly! Passion Week or Holy Week began on Palm Sunday and continues to Resurrection Sunday/Easter.   Jesus, motivated by His love for us and desire to redeem us, suffered unbelievable torture and humiliation to pay our sin debt.   He who was without sin. * It is called Passion Week because Jesus was motivated by His passionate love for us and desire to provide a path back to a restored relationship with the Father through Him.  The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again.
