DOES GOD ALWAYS HEAL?

Paul was given a "thorn in the flesh" to keep him from being puffed up or arrogant.  Scripture tells us that he begged God three times to remove it (heal him).  Scripture doesn't identify the nature of the thorn, but scholars agree that it was physical.

Each time God's response was, "My grace is all you need.  My power works best in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:8 NLT).

In other words, God's answer was "No."  Instead of having a pity party, Paul accepted God's answer, adjusted his attitude, and continued to allow the Lord to use him in ministry inspite of the his discomfort.

Earlier this year, there was a young adult with whom I developed a really close relationship as she was going through a very challenging time with her health.  As we prayed for God's healing, all the good numbers were going up and the bad ones were going down.  God was answering our requests.  We planned a day of activities so that she could put appointments, tests, blood draws, infusions, etc on the back burner.  She just wanted a day to relax & enjoy. Little did we know that exactly two weeks and 2 days later, her fight would be over.  She was ready and "got her wings".   **She was "healed", yet I and many others were sad.

We tend to see healing & deliverance as happening in the "here and now".  The lesson here is that there are two ways that healing can manifest.  In the "here & now" or on the other side of eternity.  She has been healed and delivered, just not in the way I/we wanted.  In order for God to answer my prayer, He would have to deny hers.  As painful as that was, it what she wanted and what God ordained.

We don't have to agree with or understand His decisions, but, as Believers, we must trust Him. ***He never makes a mistake.

Blessings.

**1 Thessalonians 4:13. But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep. lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

***"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor your ways My ways," says the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher that the earth, So, are My ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.  (Isaiah 55:8-9, NLT)
