REMEMBERING HIS SACRIFICE!

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities:  the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with His stripes we are healed.       Isaiah 53:5. (KJV)

We are in the middle of Passion/Holy week.  It is time when we remember the horrendous bruitality, humiliation, and suffering that Christ endured on our behalf for the sins of the world.  He who was without sin suffered like a sinner to be the bridge to restoring us back to fellowship with the Father.  I don't believe that we really grasp the degree of suffering that He endured for us, even though the movie "The Passion of the Christ" did an adequate job.

I was interested in what His body actually went though physically. For example, Luke 22:44 (KJV) reads And being in an agony He prayed more earnestly:  and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood fallling down to the ground.  How can that be?  Well, there is a condition, Hematidrosis, that can occur where one's sweat can contain blood.

Trauma surgeon, Dr. David Acuna, explains and gives great insight to the horrifying effects of a crucifiction on the human body.  Yes, Jesus was divine, AND He was fully human.  Copy and paste the link below into the search bar on Youtube or type in The Crucifixion| | A Medical Perspective as he explains it.  It's very sobering.

Bill Crowder in his book, *FOR THIS HE CAME: Jesus' Journey to the Cross, put it this way.  In examining the Physiology of Crucifixion, "First, death by crucifixion meant ultimately death by asphyxiation."

How could we NOT appreciate and love Christ for standing in our place and enduring such suffering...for us?  How could we NOT worship Him for the unselfish gift of salvation available for all who believe?
