DRESSED FOR VICTORY!

above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Ephesians 6:16 NKJV.                                               The emphasis is mine.

A daily walk with God requires us to be dressed for spiritual success meaning that every day we must be intentional in putting on the (whole) Armor of God.  Before we open our eyes in the morning, the enemy has already prepared a spiritual (fiery) dart with each of our names them. This is spiritual warfare because his plan is to "steal, kill and destroy"! (John 10:10) Ephesians 6:11-18 outlines each piece, however, today I want to focus on the shield of faith and why it is so important.   Verse 16 starts with above all.

According to anthrology.ac.uk and The Oxford English Dictionary 'the shield was used as protection from the blows of the enemy and were carried by the hand or by a strap over the left shoulder during battle.  The shields were soaked in water the night before each battle so that the wet shield would extinguish  the flame of the dart tips used by their enemies.

The Greek word for darts is "belos" and implies strong suggestions and fierce temptations from the enemy to do evil meaning that our shields must be soaked in faith.  We know from Ephesians 6:12 that our battles are spiritual and not carnal.

Let's be prepared for spiritual victory by always starting our day properly dressed.  Make no mistake.  THIS...IS...WAR!

PASSION WEEK/HOLY WEEK

No one can take my life from me.  I sacrifice it voluntarily.  For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again.  For this is what my Father has commanded.  John 10:17-18 (NLT)    This season is one of the most consequential & unforgettable periods of time in Christiandom.  A painful time which ends triumphantly! Passion Week or Holy Week began on Palm Sunday and continues to Resurrection Sunday/Easter.   Jesus, motivated by His love for us and desire to redeem us, suffered unbelievable torture and humiliation to pay our sin debt.   He who was without sin. * It is called Passion Week because Jesus was motivated by His passionate love for us and desire to provide a path back to a restored relationship with the Father through Him.  The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again.
