ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

Tomorrow in homes across the country, some tables will be spread with all types of yummy food.  Unfortunately,  for some this will not be the case. Some will have their "spreads" in shelters, hospitals, on foreign soil, or not at all.

Thanksgiving is not a Christian holiday.  However, for Christians every day should be filled with gratitude. This gratitude has nothing to do with the Pilgrims, Indigenous people, or turkey.  (Side Bar:  Some historians say that turkey was not even on the menu at the first one). How sad if the attitude of giving thanks is relegated to a date on a calendar.

Psalm 116:12 (NKJV)
What shall I render to the Lord?  For all His benefits toward me?

No matter what challenge we may be facing, should we not be grateful for His blessings?  Whether we are in a season of plenty or a season where our faith is being tested, God still deserves our best praise and gratitude.

Psalm 116:17a (NKJV)
I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
Here are a few songs that came to my mind as I reflected on being thankful and giving God His due.  Many of these are considered "Old School" and can be found on YouTube, and there are many, many more.
  • He Deserves It All (CeCe Winans)
  • He Wants It All (Forever Jones
  • Bow Down (Benjamin Dube)
  • What Shall I Render (A hymn I sang as a child)
  • Alpha and Omega (Israel Houghton & New Breed)
  • Way Maker (Various Artists)
  • Be Grateful (Walter Hawkins)
However you are blessed to spend the day, whether you are able to spend it with family, deployed in the military,  had to work, or you are missing a loved one this year, may each one of us commit to always being grateful.

in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.
I Thessalonians 5:18

Blessings.
