I'M BROKE!!

If those words have ever come out of your mouth, is it it possible that it is actually a complaint about the quality of the provisions of God for His children; that He is not a good provider.

Jehovah Jireh, is one of many names that reflect one aspect of God’s character and benefits.  It means “God,  Our Provider”.  Jireh is loosely translated  as “The Lord will see (to it)".Adonai-jireh or Yahweh Yireh, is the name that Abraham called the place where God provided a ram in the bush to be sacrificed instead of requiring Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac.  (Genesis 22:12-14)  Abraham demonstrated through his obedience his absolute faith and trust in God to provide what was needed. (Genesis 22:2,5,7,8).

Most times when we say we are broke or have no money, it is not entirely true.  If we have just a little loose change or even just a few dollars, we are not broke.  If it is true that we honestly have NO money, then I suggest doing what I call re-languaging your words and perspective so that your verbal confessions reflect faith that your present circumstance is not a permanent or hopeless situation. Perhaps, “I have a temporary cash flow situation right now which God is turning around in my favor?” That confession recognizes that God is aware and that we have the faith that provision is on the way. Our words matter.

Our requests are not always met the way we anticipate or in the time frame we would like, but God always answers. I believe that many times we reduce God’s "resources", "help" or “supply” as being limited to money.  Although God has NO limits, there are times the provision is monetary, but sometimes the provision is God’s favor on your life in a situation, or a door opens that only HE could open, an uncommon peace that only God can give in the midst of a potentially stressful situation, an overdue bill that mysteriously gets paid, a bag of groceries on your doorstep, being hired for a job that you never expected to get, etc.

Philippians 4:19  (NKJV)  And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.  (The emphasis is mine.)  What is our greatest needMatthew 6:33 answers that question.  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 7:9,11  Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  If you, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

*Our God is our Provider in Whom there is no lack, and He is a  “good, good Father”.

*There is a song written by Tony Brown & Pat Barrett called “Good, Good Father” which is popular with several artists.  Check it out on YouTube.
