FORWARD FOCUSED



Key Scripture

Philippians 3:13,14  (NKJV)  “... but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,  I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”


As we are on the cusp of the brand new year & continuing our journey in this decade, may we be “forward focused”” in our anticipation of what the Lord has in store for us. Yes, 2020 has certainly been a year like none other, and brought with it challenges that none of us could ever have anticipated, but the journey is not over.  


Keep in mind His words of promise and affirmation in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV).  “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you  hope and a future.”


Every single thing that the Lord allows to touch our lives has purpose even when we can not trace Him nor understand the logic of what He is doing.  I put it this way.  For every test that God allows, “eat the meat and spit out the bones.” “The meat” is the lesson from which  God wants us to learn/grow from each challenge, and “the bones” are the tests that the enemy hopes to use to choke your spirit and cause you to give up on God.  Instead, may we embrace what Paul confessed in our key scripture. 


God never intended for our journey into 2021 to include looking in the rearview mirror of 2020. Looking back serves one of 2 purposes, depending on your mindset and your faith.  One is positive as you embrace the lessons He meant for you to master in 2020.  The other is negative as the enemy tries to dismantle your faith and trick you into relinquishing or aborting God’s plans for your life.” 


Let’s happily say goodbye to 2020, and welcome 2021 with great anticipation of the blessings and opportunities to be used by the Lord  .  May we repent for our spiritual failures, learn our lessons,  seek His Will for our lives in 2021 with prayer & expectancy, then declare and decree the same.  Job 22:28  (NKJV)  “You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.”

PASSION WEEK/HOLY WEEK

No one can take my life from me.  I sacrifice it voluntarily.  For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again.  For this is what my Father has commanded.  John 10:17-18 (NLT)    This season is one of the most consequential & unforgettable periods of time in Christiandom.  A painful time which ends triumphantly! Passion Week or Holy Week began on Palm Sunday and continues to Resurrection Sunday/Easter.   Jesus, motivated by His love for us and desire to redeem us, suffered unbelievable torture and humiliation to pay our sin debt.   He who was without sin. * It is called Passion Week because Jesus was motivated by His passionate love for us and desire to provide a path back to a restored relationship with the Father through Him.  The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again.
